PEEK Rods

What is PEEK rods?

PEEK rods is a type of PEEK plastic profile. It's made from PEEK resin pellets, heated and melted, and then extruded, hot-pressed, or injection-molded. PEEK is a semi-crystalline, high-performance thermoplastic engineering plastic. Its key features include high strength, high modulus, high thermal conductivity, excellent wear resistance, and chemical stability. It is widely used in a wide range of fields, including aircraft and automotive manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, oil and gas drilling equipment, chemical equipment, and machinery manufacturing. Our PEEK Rods series of products include Carbon Fiber Filled PEEK Rods, Glass Fiber Filled PEEK Rods, etc.

How is PEEK rod reinforced?

Pure PEEK has excellent properties, but it still has limitations in some extreme or specialized applications, requiring reinforcement through the addition of fillers.

1. Carbon fiber reinforcement: Carbon fiber offers high strength and modulus, as well as excellent chemical properties such as corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, water resistance, and oil resistance. By adding carbon fiber, PEEK's strength and modulus are significantly improved. Furthermore, the addition of carbon fiber can reduce PEEK's coefficient of thermal expansion and improve its thermal conductivity. The most typical application is 30% carbon fiber reinforcement, known as PEEK CF30 rod, also known as PEEK CA30 rod.

2. Glass Fiber Reinforcement: Glass fiber offers advantages such as high strength, low cost, and good compatibility with PEEK. Adding glass fiber to PEEK resin can significantly improve the material's mechanical properties and friction resistance. When the glass fiber content reaches a certain ratio, the composite's mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and flexural strength, are significantly enhanced. The optimal glass fiber addition for comprehensive performance in PEEK plastic is 30%, resulting in PEEK GF30 rod.

3. PTFE + Graphite + Carbon Fiber Reinforcement: Adding PTFE significantly reduces PEEK's coefficient of friction and improves its wear resistance. Graphite, as a solid lubricant, reduces PEEK's coefficient of friction and significantly improves its thermal stability. Graphite's electrical conductivity also imparts antistatic and conductive properties to PEEK composites. Adding 10% each of PTFE, graphite, and carbon fiber can achieve bearing-grade PEEK HPV rods.

4. ESD Filler: Electrostatically dissipative (ESD) materials are specifically designed, typically with a surface resistance between 10^4 and 10^8 ohms, to prevent static electricity accumulation, thereby protecting sensitive electronic components and reducing risks in industrial environments with highly complex control systems. ESD PEEK rod are commonly used.

  • Basically, Carbon fiber Filled PEEK Rods is adding carbon fiber to PEEK resin to make it perform even better. PEEK on its own is already a high-performance engineering plastic. It has a crystalline structure—around 25% to 35%—which gives it great strength, stiffness, toughness, and resistance to fatigue, wear, and high temperatures. It also holds its shape well under stress, so it’s pretty versatile overall.

  • So basically, Glass Fiber Filled PEEK Rods is all about making PEEK even better by mixing in glass fiber. PEEK itself is already a high-performance engineering plastic with a special molecular structure—think alternating ether bonds, aromatic rings, and carbonyl groups. Since its molecular chain is made entirely of aromatic rings, it’s naturally super heat-resistant. It’s also really stiff and has great mechanical properties to begin with. When you add glass fiber into the mix, those properties get even stronger.

  • PEEK polyetheretherketone rods is made by extruding high-quality PEEK plastic pellets directly. That means it keeps almost all the awesome natural properties of PEEK—both physically and chemically. So what’s so special about PEEK? Its molecular structure includes benzene rings, ether bonds, and carbonyl groups, all connected through ether and ketone bonds. And it’s exactly this unique setup that makes it super tough: it can handle high heat, stand up to radiation, resist chemical corrosion, and it’s seriously strong mechanically.

  • Let me tell you about our Polyetheretherketone PEEK rod at GuangZhou Ideal. We start with top-grade PEEK resin—sourced from both local and international suppliers—and extrude it into the final product. So what is PEEK exactly? It’s a semi-crystalline thermoplastic, meaning its molecular chains are built with aromatic rings and ether bonds lined up one after another. That special structure gives it a great balance of flexibility and stiffness, plus standout performance. That’s why it really shines among engineering plastics.
