Processing PEEK Products

Processing PEEK products can be made in a bunch of ways—like extrusion molding, injection molding, machining molding, and mold compression molding. It’s made from polyetheretherketone. Yeah, the name’s a mouthful, but its structure is actually pretty interesting—each repeating unit has one ketone bond and two ether bonds. That’s what makes it so good at handling high temperatures and resisting chemicals. It’s got really solid physical and chemical properties overall. Plus, it’s what’s called a semi-crystalline polymer material.

Product Description

Processing PEEK products, each molding method brings its own set of challenges. If you don’t get it right, you could easily end up with bad parts.

Common Trouble with Compression Molding

Pores or Bubbles:

You’ll typically see this when there's not enough pressure—so crank it up a bit. Sometimes, air gets stuck in the powder or melt and just can’t find its way out. Bottom line: you gotta get that air out of there.

Unmelted Powder Inside:

If you notice this, chances are the temperature’s too low, or the material didn’t get enough time to melt fully. Double-check if the actual temp matches what you set it to, and make sure the heating stages are giving it enough time to really melt through.

What About Injection Molding Issues?

Layering (Delamination):

This one likes to pop up in thin sections. If the melt moves too quickly, hot and cool layers can split apart and not stick together well—so you end up with a weird, uneven texture. Try moving the gate or tweaking the wall thickness to fix it.

Shrinkage or Voids:

These usually show up in thicker spots—basically, the material isn’t filling in all the way. You can try upping the holding pressure and giving it a bit more time. Also, when you're designing, let the melt flow from thin areas into thick ones—not the other way around.

How to Keep Processing PEEK part Quality Under Control

Use the Right Tool:

We always recommend polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tools. They last longer, cut clean, and don’t rough up your workpiece—which means you get better accuracy and your tools don’t wear out as fast.

Tool Shape Makes a Difference Too:

Don’t pick a cutting edge that’s too steep—a smaller angle actually gives you a cleaner, stronger cut. Also, keep the relief angle on the smaller side—it cuts down on vibration and helps everything stay steady and precise.

We’ve been in the PEEK business for over 14 years, so we really know this stuff inside and out. We can Machined PEEK part that fits exactly what you’re looking for—without costing a fortune.

Product properties:

1.Tough as Nails in the Heat

Processing PEEK products can seriously handle the heat. Its glass transition temperature sits at 143 °C, and it won’t even start melting until it hits a wild 334 °C. Even under stress at 316 °C, it holds its shape—no warping, no sagging. You can run it continuously between 250–260 °C without a hitch, and for short bursts, it’s good up to 300 °C. High temperature plus high pressure? No sweat. This stuff is tough as nails.

2.Hard to Burn

Another plus—PEEK is naturally flame-resistant. It meets the UL94 V-0 rating (tested at 1.6 mm thick) without any help from additives. If it does catch fire, it produces very little smoke and no nasty toxic fumes. That’s why it’s a go-to material in planes and electronics where safety can’t be compromised.

3.Slippery On Its Own

Processing PEEK part comes with its own built-in lubricity. That means no constant oiling to keep things moving smoothly. And because it’s naturally slippery, things run quieter and parts just last longer.

4.Won’t Give Up on You

Thanks to its unique molecular and crystal structure, PEEK is naturally resistant to fatigue. Even after being stressed again and again or used long-term, it’s unlikely to crack or break. This material is made to keep going.

5.Eats Chemicals for Breakfast

PEEK has a rock-solid chemical structure, so it stands up to most acids, bases, and organic solvents without breaking a sweat. The only things that really bother it are concentrated sulfuric acid and nitric acid—those can make it dissolve or turn yellow. Pretty much everything else just bounces off. One heads-up: if it’s not crystallized properly during manufacturing, solvents like acetone might cause some fine cracking.

6.radiation-resistant

Machined PEEK part is a pro at handling radiation. Even in heavy gamma ray environments, it barely flinches and holds up strong. It totally outperforms other plastics that claim to be radiation-resistant, which is why you’ll often spot it in critical components inside nuclear gear.

Where can you actually use this stuff:

Industrial Manufacturing

Processing PEEK products is seriously tough—it can handle a lot of wear and tear and doesn’t mind high temperatures. That’s why it’s a go-to material for important parts like valve plates, piston rings, and all kinds of seals in compressors. You’ll also find it in stuff like bearings, shaft sleeves, and gears.

Medical Equipment

In healthcare, PEEK is a big deal for implants and surgical tools. Doctors use it to make things like skull patches, artificial joints, and bone screws. One of its best features? Its flexibility is really close to real human bone. So once it’s in place, it won’t make the nearby bones “lazy”—meaning fewer issues from stress shielding.

Robots and Automation

Processing PEEK part is a favorite in robotics because it’s strong and stands up to corrosion. Think about robot joints and casings—they often have to keep working in rough conditions. PEEK holds up really well and keeps things running smoothly.

Power Industry

PEEK can take the heat—up to 260°C—and it’s a great insulator, with a dielectric strength as high as 20kV/mm. That makes it perfect for shielding high-voltage coils from moisture or chemical damage.

Aviation Industry

Machined PEEK part is seriously strong, especially when it’s reinforced with carbon fiber—its tensile strength can hit 200MPa. That’s super useful in airplanes, where parts have to handle intense mechanical stress during flight. Plus, it doesn’t wear out as easily as metal.

Petrochemical

In the oil and gas world, PEEK is used all over the place—valves, seals, pipes, tube bundles, and even tools for drilling. It’s got what it takes: heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and serious durability.

FAQ

Can I get samples?

Yeah, definitely! If we’ve got the semi-finished profiles in stock, we’ll send samples free of charge—you just pay for shipping. And no worries—the samples will be exactly the same as what you get in your actual order.

Can products be customized? How does that work?

Sure thing! We handle customization. Just send over your 2D or 3D drawings—STEP, STP, STL, or IGS formats work fine. If you’ve got a physical sample, send that our way and we’ll take measurements. Got special requests? We can also help tweak the design or make adjustments.

What kind of equipment do you have?

Our factory’s got large-scale production lines for plastic profiles, plus all sorts of CNC machines and machining centers—including four-axis and five-axis ones. We also have engraving machines and laser cutting equipment. Oh, and our injection molding workshop is a 100,000-class cleanroom—super clean and totally dust-free.

What’s your return or exchange policy?

If you receive semi-finished or custom products and there’s a quality issue, wrong size, or trouble during installation, just give us a shout as soon as you can. If we confirm it’s our mistake, we’ll handle the return or exchange and cover the shipping costs. But if you ordered the wrong thing or want to return for another reason (especially with profiles), we can help as long as the items are still resellable—though you’ll need to cover the return shipping.

Can you provide samples?

Yes—we offer free samples of semi-finished profiles so you can test performance, depending on what we have in stock. You’d just cover the shipping. And rest assured—the sample will perform exactly like the final products we deliver.
